The Motor City is the perfect destination for a wide variety of activities - especially in the summer. Since this is my first summer in Detroit, I set out to get the full experience. Let me be your virtual tour guide and tell you how to make your summer in the D the best yet!
Vitamin D at Noon
During the summer, it’s definitely a good idea to grab your coworkers and have a revitalizing lunch experience. The best part is that you can get a healthy dose of vitamin D via sunshine while basking in all the city has to offer. If you are looking for a few classical items with a spin, take a seat on the open roof patio at Townhouse and rest assured, you won’t be disappointed. Or if you are in need of a midday vacation, check out the beach at Campus Martius where you can transform yourself to a far away beach, or grab some local grub at one of the food trucks where they have something for everyone.
After Hours and Whiskey Sours
It’s that time of the day and you’re in charge of deciding where to go for a night full of entertainment and drinks that are Instagram worthy. If you desire to create an evening dripping with class, head to Vicente’s Cuban Cuisine for elegant tapas and sangria while enjoying the city nightlife. If bar games, bowling and socializing are more up your alley, look no further than Punch Bowl Social. You are not limited with your selection of entrees, from the Grilled Cheese with Sweet Tomato Jam to the Shrimp & Grits.
Buckle Down for Saturday on the Town
Spending a Saturday in Detroit can be a little overwhelming because of all the unique options you have. However, one of the most interesting neighborhoods is Midtown. While you’re admiring the mix of modern and elegant architecture, try a seasonal, local brew at Motor City Brewing Works. If you make your way back for a Tigers game, you're guaranteed a night of enjoyment and socializing with a breathtaking scene on the rooftop of Cheli’s Chili Bar.
It is pretty much a given that summers in Detroit are the best, but we wanted to give you a few more highlights to share with anyone who doubts it!
