Site leverages responsive web design to connect disconnected youth
The MCCI team is pleased to announce the launch of a new mobile-first, responsive website for the Runaway & Homeless Youth Regional Alliance. The web launch is part of an integrated marketing strategy for the Runaway & Homeless Youth Regional Alliance to build awareness and provide support services for runaway and disconnected youth throughout the Detroit region.
The site was designed with a mobile-first approach, leveraging CSS3 media queries to deliver a user experience optimized for smartphone, tablet and desktop/laptop. Optimizations include:
- Collapsed navigation menu for smartphone and tablet visitors - provides easy access to nav menu with large, easily-touchable buttons
- Large font for smartphone and tablet visitors for optimal legibility at small screen sizes
- Logo artwork that resizes based on screen size
- Responsive grid design restacks homepage content depending on screen size
Under the hood
The site is powered by the WordPress open-source Content Management System, using a custom theme based on a standards-based responsive grid framework. This provides the power of a leading, user-friendly CMS, with an original, custom look and feel, at an affordable cost for a non-profit organization.
The site is hosted on energy-efficient servers powered by renewable energy resources.
