Meet Destiny Bruderick, the video team's newest videographer/editor. Destiny recently graduated from Lawrence Tech University with a bachelor's degree in Media Communications, and enjoys a game or two of futbol every now and again (she played Defense for LTU during her college years.) We're very excited to have her on-board working with our video team – get to know more about Destiny below!
What do you love about MCCI?
What I love most about MCCI has to be the people and the work atmosphere. It's been really easy to bounce ideas off of each other and everyone is open to new, creative concepts. MCCI has a lot of talented people and everyone bleeds into other fields, always giving an outside perspective. I was really able to jump right in on my first day and help out on the set and even edit. The team has made my role and purpose easy to understand and has given me creative freedom when working on projects alone.
Explain your role as a part of the MCCI family?
I am a Videographer / Editor here at MCCI, I'm mostly in the edit suites editing videos in Premiere Pro, creating motion graphics in After Effects, and also out in the field with ALL the cameras shooting interviews or B-roll.
What’s the most challenging part of your job? Most rewarding?
I mostly enjoy editing because when I'm handed a hard drive with a lot of footage I have so much freedom to piece it together. It's almost like a puzzle with no right "solve". These editing puzzles have thousands of different outcomes, every soundbite and B-roll can be placed differently and length of each clip can change. However, everyone has a different editing style or process so sometimes when editing you have to set aside your style of editing. But it's so exciting to see all the clips come together to make one great video.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
Outside of the office, I'm mostly spending quality time with my dog and roommates. I rescued my dog, Scrappy Doo, from Detroit and I've had him for a little over a year now. My roommates and I often play video games, watch movies, or go out exploring. I played soccer while in college so I still really enjoy going to the field and playing a few pick-up games. Even though editing is my work I also really enjoy editing in my free time to advance my skills and constantly try new things while editing and creating new motion graphics.
Which four individuals, living or dead, would you like to eat dinner with the most?
Four individuals I'd like to eat dinner with include:
- Robert Downey Jr. - he has a crazy history and is a really interesting guy that would have a lot of wisdom and knowledge, plus he's my favorite actor.
- Frank Sinatra - his music has always motivated my mood and his work is really inspirational.
- Jim Carrey - another really interesting actor, recently he has become very outspoken about the way he thinks and the reason behind his paintings. Just listening to Jim Carrey during his interviews makes him really interesting given his outlook on life.
- Robin Williams - simply because he had always been there during my childhood and he's been in so many inspiring movies.
Just imagining that dinner table with those four would be a really interesting night and have a lot of memories.
